Everything feels normal…
And then suddenly:
β€œWait… why does ONE side of my lower belly hurt?” 😳
If it happens around the middle of your cycle and goes away on its own, it could be ovulation pain, also known as mittelschmerz.

πŸ₯š What's happening?

Around ovulation, an ovary releases an egg.
For some people, this can cause a temporary sensation in the lower abdomen or pelvis.
You might notice:
πŸ‘€ A mild ache on one side
⚑ A sharp or twinge-like feeling
😣 Slight pelvic discomfort
⏱️ Pain that lasts from a few minutes to several hours
πŸ”„ The side may be different in different cycles
Not everyone experiences ovulation pain, and some people never feel it at all.

Why only one side?

Because ovulation happens from an ovary, the discomfort may be felt more on the side where the egg is being released.
But your body doesn't follow a perfectly predictable calendar, so the side isn't necessarily the same every month.

🌸 Is it normal?

Mild, short-lived pain around ovulation can be normal.
But severe, persistent, worsening, or unusual pelvic pain shouldn't automatically be blamed on your cycle. Pain accompanied by symptoms such as fever, vomiting, fainting, or unusual bleeding should be evaluated by a healthcare professional.

πŸ’œ Your body has patterns

Your cycle isn't just about your period.
Sometimes your body gives you little clues throughout the month-and noticing those patterns can help you understand what's normal for you.
So the next time you feel a little β€œouch… what was that?” around the middle of your cycle, take note.
